Back when we used pay phones every now and then when we stepped into a phone booth we discovered that there was a sign hung over the phone that read “Out of Order”, well,we got rid of the phones and the booths and the signs too, I guess, but every now and then I get the feeling that we ought to have saved those signs so we could take them to Washington, DC and hang them around the neck of some of the folks who are allegedly working for us there. “Out of order!” And I think we should also make a few other signs. On some heads we should hang signs reading “Nobody home upstairs.
Now I don’t plan to get political here. There are plenty of stupid, selfish, lame brains in every party to go around right now. Still, that “Out of Order” sign pretty well describes the state of the nation right now. It is such a sad thing too because we have such a wonderful country and our potential for good is endless.
Abraham Lincoln said “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.
This might just be such a time.
