Art Fettig & His Lucky Stars
Some notes about the Just Say Yes – Just Say No Rap record.
Art Fettig is a professional speaker and the author of 22 published books. His Three Robot series of books for children are based on three fictional robots’ names, Pos, Semi-Pos and Neg. Fettig’s goal and mission in life is to bring positive living concepts to children and their parents. In his book The Three Robots Learn About Drugs, The Three Robots each write a verse which they believe will help solve our nation’s youth drug problem. Neg’s solution is a verse titled, “Just Say No.” Pos comes up with her solution with a verse titled “Just Say Yes.” Semi-Pos’ solutions is contained in his verse titled “I’s Somebody.”
“After the book came out I discovered that the verses loaned themselves to the popular Rap form of music. I called a former neighbor friend Dean Chadderdon who had his own Rock Group and before I knew what was happening, Dean had me in front of a microphone leading a Rap Group that we called The Lucky Stars. Dean has become our character Semi-Pos and he plays bass in the background. Drummer Tim Cabelak fit right into the Poe Role and guitarist Mike Holden assumed the Neg Role.” The group has been appearing in local parades and youth rallies and recently had 1,500 committed young people marching through the streets of Grand Rapids, Michigan, together chanting The Just Say No Rap.
Growth Unlimited, Inc., Fettig’s publishing company, currently has 8 children’s books in print and two books for parents. The Three Robots books and tapes are now being used in a number of schools and have won endorsements from psychologist Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Dr. Robert Schuller, Zig Ziglar and Art Linkletter.
