My wife and I have two cats, Max and Fritz. Our two- and one-half-year-old granddaughter Brynn absolutely loves Fritz because he lets her pet him whenever she wants. Max, on the other hand, runs the other way as soon as he sees her coming. For this reason, Brynn does not like Max. All this has been going on for quite some time. My wife and I went away for a long weekend recently and Brynn and her mom agreed to come over twice a day and check on the cats. On the second day that we were gone, one of the cats decided to make a mess on the bathroom rug to protest our being gone. When the mess was discovered, Brynn’s mom asked her which cat she thought was responsible. Without hesitation, Brynn adamantly stated, “It was Max!” the cat she doesn’t like. Brynn, at her very young age, demonstrated typical human behavior. If people like you, they will look out for you, but if they don’t like you, they won’t hesitate to “throw you under the bus!”
