Good Things Happen to Kind People – by Dr. Ross Reck

My friend Barb recently retired after working at the same supermarket for 39 years. She spent much of that time working in the floral department. Barb is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. On top of that, she’s a very caring person, a good listener, loves people and has a very engaging smile. Everyone loves Barb. Nearly every time I walked into that store, Barb was patiently listening to a customer, or a fellow employee tell their story while she worked away at her flowers. Sometimes several people would be waiting in line for the chance to talk with her. The day she retired; people showed up in droves to say their final goodbyes. There were cashiers, courtesy clerks, and customers—some from 30+ years ago!! Balloons were everywhere and people lined up to have their photo taken with Barb. The lesson here is that when you’re a kind caring person, people will flock to you, love you and will be sad to see you go.
