Musk Work’s Illegally On A Student Visa

Musk moved from South Africa to Canada in 1989, then entered the U.S. on a student visa to attend Stanford in 1995 but quickly dropped out to start Zip2.

According to a 2024 Washington Post investigation, Musk did not complete enrollment at Stanford, which meant his student visa was no longer valid. Washington Post further states, “Leaving school left Musk without a legal basis to remain in the United States, according to legal experts.
