Song unsung?

You don’t need a great voice

With the new Mary Poppins playing in a nearby theatre my memory kicked in on one of my favorite memories. It was the day that I sang the song, “Just a spoon full of sugar” at the Opera House to 1,000 Safety People at the Governor’s Safety Conference in Spokane, Washington. After a verse and the chorus of that song, done as I paced up and down the aisle I asked that audience, “How many of you noticed that I can’t even carry a tune?” They laughed and applauded. My point was that you don’t need a great voice to sing your song. I said that one of the greatest tragedies for any of us to die with our song unsung, with that music still within us. Yes, it was a call to action. A challenge for all of us, including myself, to endeavor to discover the talents we had been given and to develop them and put them to the job of making this a better world.

I really like your singing analogy. We each can do our best, no matter if someone else is an “expert.”
