North Carolina Flag

North Carolina. When I was widowed in 1993 I buried myself in work and it was several years before I took to courtin’. One thing I knew though was that I was tired of the cold Michigan winter weather and snow. I was traveling all over the United States and Canada making speeches and I kept my eyes open when visiting some of the warmer states. In 1998 I spoke in California at the National Safety Congress in Los Angeles. When I got back home I got a query about doing a tour in Australia and speaking on safety. I pulled up Australia Travel on my computer and darned if somehow I got connected online with a lady travel agent named Jean Collier. We emailed about travel and other things and we talked about North Carolina and it being warm enough and far enough south for me. We met and when I visited North Carolina I returned to Michigan and called Greg Brayton, visited his music studio and we recorded a song I’d written titled Far Enough South For Me. The song is attached above and now 21 years later so are Jean and I.
