The Grass Always Seems Greener on the Other Side of the Fence – by Dr. Ross Reck

The above phrase describes how a lot of unhappy people view the world. They’re unhappy with their current situation and they think others have it better. In reality, the grass isn’t always greener; it only looks that way. I remember looking at a cartoon in the Farm Journal magazine when I was a kid which featured a cow named Ada who was standing in her pasture next to a fence post. As Ada looked at the pasture on the other side of the fence, it occurred to her that the grass looked much greener. So, she inserted her head between two layers of barbed wire and began eating the grass in the other pasture. After a while, she bent her neck around the fence post that was next to her and saw another pasture where the grass looked greener still. Once again, she inserted her head between two layers of barbed wire and began eating; not realizing this apparently greener grass was right next to her feet on the same side of the fence where she was standing. The lesson here is that the next time you think someone else has it better than you; take a good look at where you’re standing. Chances are very good that a lot of people would like to trade places with you.
