Mrs. William Etzel – Port Huron – Charlotte C. Etzel, 83, of 1300 Beard St., died Thursday in Marwood Manor.
She was born Jan. 9, 1894, in Elkton and lived here all her life.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She was married to Lewis A. Courtney. He died Oct. 1, 1944. She married William Etzel. He died in July 1963.
She is survived by two sons, David R. Courtney, Port Huron and James L. Courtney, Lexington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mina Schultz, Pontiac; two step-sons, Rev. Lenhardt Etzel and Norman Etzel, both of Pontiac; a sister, Mrs. Winifred McKay, Port Huron; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Rev. Marion F. Pierson, of Faith Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
Remains will be in the funeral home where visiting hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
William Etzel, 74, of 3215 Wadhams Road, a retired Great Lakes sailor and resident of Port Huron 61 years, expired Saturday, July 20, 1963, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Sarnia, after a short illness.
He was born in Germany on November 7, 1888. He married Martha Zabell who expired on May 7, 1944. He and Lottie Courtney were married Jan. 16, 1947. Mr. Etzel was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Mr. Etzel is survived by his widow; two sons, Sgt. 1/c Norman Etzel, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and Rev. Lenhart Etzel, Athens, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Pochert, Port Hope; two step-sons, James Courtney, Lexington, and David Courtney, Port Huron; a brother, John Etzel, Harbor Beach; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and several brothers and sisters in German.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 22, 1963 in Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. O. F. Krupski, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Forrest Bay Cemetery, Port Hope.
Pallbearers were: Kurt Pochert, Terrel Pochert, Russel Etzel, Samuel Closs, Edward Duda and LaVerne McNabb.
Arrangements were by the Pollock-Jowett Funeral Home.
