Sound Bites Mark Twain once said, "It ain't what we know that gets us in trouble, its what we know that just ain't so." I can't figure how I survived in my career as a professional speaker for so long not knowing all that I do. It just seems that the more that I learn, the less I really know. If I keep this up for much longer I will probably get to the point where I know absolutely nothing. Perhaps then I will be able to land one of those new CZAR jobs they are creating in Washington, D.C. All you need to know about any subject is to be able to discuss a subject in the form of sound bits for the cameras. Just look wise and utter quotable sound bites.. There must be a new specialization in the works at one of our finer Universities on that subject, Sound Bites 101. The Art of saying nothing, quickly, with great authority. Please leave your comments about "Sound Bites" on my Blob. Say Something Good A local reverend died here recently and in his obit it mentioned how much he loved to go to yard sales. His wife explained, "He didn't buy a lot of things. I think he just liked to visit with people." I thought about what she said and how much I love to drive around on Saturday mornings and the truth is, I don't buy much either. I just seem to mosey around looking at things and visiting with people. It is also nice to get up early in the morning and drive down a winding country road. The whole experience is like an adventure and it amazes me how many friendly and interesting people there are in this old world. May God Bless our country and keep our troops from harm. Points To Ponder Comparisons of one's lot with others' teaches us nothing and enfeebles the will. Thornton Wilder A Little Humor The other morning I looked in the mirror and I looked exactly like Brad Pitt's older brother, old arm pit. Quote of the Week If you do not feel yourself growing in your work and your life broadening and deepening, if your task is not a perpetual tonic to you, you have not found your place.
